IEEE Standard to Rate the Trustworthiness of News Sites – IEEE – The Institute

In an era of fake news, IEEE, the largest and most respected nonprofit, non-political institution is trying to restore a semblance of trust in news-sharing sites and the institution of journalism. Its new “IEEE P7011 Standard for the Process of Identifying and Rating the Trustworthiness of News Sources” will analyze factual accuracy, headlines, and provide a rating in the form of a letter grade (A to F), telling readers just how trustworthy the news source is. This will help the reader see that an article is good, bad, or average reputation. This rating system is targeting social media platforms, like Facebook, and search engines, like Google and news outlets, like The New York Times and Fox News.
This is completely open standard—anyone can join the working group.
