Geothermal Energy, a hidden, limitless supply of energy.

Geothermal energy is a heat energy  produced in a layer of hot molten rock below the earth’s crust called magma where heat is continually produced in this layer. Geothermal energy never runs out and can be found almost every where.  “Within  33,000 feet of Earth’s surface” contains 50,000 times more energy than all the oil and natural gas resources in the world”. Geothermal energy can be used as an energy source in different methods; power stations, pumping station and even as a cooling and heating source. The most common way of producing energy from geothermal sources is taping into “the hydrothermal convection systems”, where cooler water seeps into Earth’s crust, is heated up, and then rises to the surface. Once this heated water is forced to the surface, the steam is captured and used to generate electricity.

Google is leading  the “big five” into this industry

Among the “Big five” companies in the world,  and on July 6, X, the “moonshot” division of Google’s parent company Alphabet, announced that it’s launching a new geothermal company, called Dandelion with X-developed technology capable of reducing the drilling time for a geothermal system from several weeks to several hours. Dandelion is planing for a major territory and technology expansion in 2018.

The Indonesian Government is promoting geothermal business opportunity

Countries all over the world are already tapping geothermal energy as an affordable and sustainable solution to reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and the global warming and public health risks that result from their use.  Indonesian government, with a “World Bank geothermal funds” of $275m is is promising a “Business Opportunities” and is pushing major development in Indonesia. To assist in reaching its, target, the ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), has created a geothermal development roadmap for 2015 to 2025. New Regulations classifying ” geothermal ” opens wider potential for  exploration in nature reserved areas. This opens the door for great business opportunities in geothermal sector also include geothermal direct use, low temperature geothermal potential, creating small scale power plants, and supporting core infrastructure of geothermal development.
